Motherboard
Kim Sing Theatre, Los Angeles
By way of photography and film, the project, Motherboard, sculpts a narrative about privacy in a digital era, and the ways in which humans connect with one another today. Shot in black and white, metallic beings, both alien and robotic in demeanor, lay upon a bed of electronics and cords, as they bask in the Los Angeles sun, reclining and recharging.
The scene is set when I portray the domesticated housewife, as I tend to the needs of my lounging husband. As an ode to the Hellenistic return, the figures upon the pedestal are stoic in posture, however, they are embedded in layers of cords and electronic devices, implying the ways in which society is shackled by technology. The vibrating dildos served on a platter, padded by cords and devices portray modes of intimacy and consumption.
