Motherboard
Kim Sing Theatre, Los Angeles

By way of photography and film, Tiffany Adler’s project,  Motherboard, sculpts a narrative about privacy in a digital era, feminism, and the ways in which humans connect with one another today. Shot in black and white, metallic beings, both alien and robotic in demeanor, lay upon a bed of electronics and cords, as they bask in the Los Angeles sun, reclining and recharging.

The scene is set when Adler herself portrays the domesticated housewife, as she tends to the needs of her lounging husband. As an ode to the Hellenistic return, the figures upon the pedestal are stoic in posture, however, they are embedded in layers of cords and electronic devices, implying the ways in which society is shackled by technology. The vibrating dildos served by Adler on a platter padded by cords and devices portray modes of intimacy and consumption.

Story, Production and Photo Editing by Tiffany Adler, Direction & Film Editing by Rana Ghiassi. Cinematography by Nick Marx. Photography by Haley Myer.
